Hemp Body Care

I am zero tolerance when it comes to toxicity in my bodycare. Our pores are little portals (pore-tals) into our bloodstream, and so toxic creams, soaps, gels, sprays and oils enter our body and wreak havoc on our immune system and hormones. Companies are masters at greenwashing, which is the art of using natural health as a marketing ploy for products that are in fact toxic (learn more HERE).

My obsession with hemp began about 5 years ago, when I first got to Australia. Hemp seeds are pretty big there, and working at an organic store that sold hemp in bulk, I learnt quite a bit about the magic of this plant not only as a food but as a medicine.

Hemp oil alone has a plethora of incredible benefits for the skin:

  • a natural cleanser

  • balances oily skin

  • hydrating + moisturising

  • anti-inflammatory

    • treats acne

    • treats rashes and other skin condition (eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis)

And of course, the benefits of CBD are profound:

  • Pain Relief

  • Reduced Risk of Diabetes and Obesity

  • Better Cholesterol Profiles and Lowered Risk of Cardiovascular Disease

  • Reduced Risk of Cancer

  • Helps Maintain Brain Health and Create Resilience to Trauma and Degeneration

  • Protects against Bone Disease and Broken Bones

  • Protects and Heals the Skin

  • Anti-inflammatory

  • Anxiety and Stress Reduction

  • Relief of Depression and Mood Disorders

  • Relief of Sleep Disorders (Insomnia, Sleep Apnea)

When trying to decide if you should take CBD orally or topically, examine your symptoms. If your trying to target localized pain (arthritis, skin irritation or chronic skin conditions, sore muscles, etc)- topical CBD might be your best bet (along with a multi-therapeutic approach including diet, etc).

…because the skin has its own endocannabinoid system, just the superficial application of CBD by itself [can be] extremely helpful.

Note that some CBD products also contain THC (which induces a high), but the 3 products I highlight below by Endoca have zero THC.

I went in depth about my face skincare routine in THIS article, but here are my 3 go-to’s when it comes to rest-of body hydration and healing.

My 3 Favourite Hemp Body Care Products

  1. Hemp Lips + Skin (20mg CBD)

I put this guy no. 1 because I use it for everything. Seriously, this is so much more than lip balm. First of all, I don’t normally use lip balm because they tend to create a dependency on the product- but this CBD infused balm genuinely heals the skin and got me through a brutal Canadian winter. If ever I have a cut, a bump, a bite, a scratch: I reach for this little stick. It also has this incredibly natural smell that I just love.

The lip + skin balm is made with (all certified organic, food grade): Hemp Oil, CBD Oil, Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Vitamin E, Vanilla extract, Limonene, and Honey.

2. Hemp Body Butter (1500mg CBD)

First of all: this stuff smells amazing. The combination of shea butter and cocoa butter are not only super hydrating and soothing but they smell so good you will want to eat it. Don’t worry though, the ingredients are so natural you can actually eat it.

This body body isn’t greasy, but it is definitely thick and very hydrating. It’s made with (all certified organic, food grade): CBD, Shea Butter, Palm Oil, Cocoa Seed Butter, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Coconut Oil, Root Starch, Vanilla, Beeswax, Vitamin E.

3. Hemp Salve (750mg CBD)

The difference between body butter and salve is essentially that salve penetrates deeper, and so is perhaps more of a “skincare medicine”. If your purpose is really healing the skin (like psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis) I would opt for salve. But both are hydrating, moisturizing, nourishing, and healing. Other than that the noticeable difference is the texture: body butter has that whipped creamy texture, whilst the salve is smooth and sleek.

The salve is made with (all certified organic, food grade): CBD (cannabidiol), Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citral, Vanilla, Vitamin E.

I would never endorse a brand I don’t completely believe in. I use these products myself, I trust the company whole heartedly. Despite being skincare, they only use food grade ingredients because:

The skin is the body’s biggest organ, so how you to care for it is extremely important. We believe that if you use something on your skin, you should be happy to put it in your mouth. For that reason we use only the purest, certified organic ingredients that are good enough to eat.
